Mich hat die Handlung durchgehend mitreißen können und da sich der bildhafte, packende Schreibstil angenehm flüssig für mich hat lesen lassen und die Kapitel sehr kurz sind, bin ich nur so durch die Seiten geflogen und habe das Buch quasi in einem Rutsch durchgelesen.

This is a charming story but written for a younger audience than I had anticipated - I had bought it for the 13-year-old niece's birthday but it is more suitable for the 9-year-old. When Seren goes to find Them, I was At a time when books often sprawl over 300 pages or more, it is wonderfully concise too, and even better for that. The trilogy is a mix of magic and folklore, set in Victorian Wales, telling the story of the orphan Seren Rhys and herb adventures with the tetchy, brilliant and powerful Clockwork Crow. I didn’t quite know what to expect but am so glad I went in ‘blind’, to truly appreciate the element of surprise that an immersive theatre provides.

With the help of a new, incredibly unusual friend, Seren decides to investigate and is shocked by what she discovers. This experience has been fantastic primarily for the children, the school and also for me (professionally). Both stories take the main character underground on a rescue mission, with the current story having Seren descend a golden staircase to travel to the palace of ice. Her sharp mind is constantly questioning the world around her and is not satisfied with half truths.Characterisation – From the first introduction to Seren, I knew there was something special about her. I think Clockwork Crow easy enough for most kids but interesting enough to really get them liking reading. Minutes before her train arrives, she is handed a mysterious package by an anxious, long-fingered man who then vanishes into the night. But when she gets there, the happy Christmas she had hoped for turns out to be an illusion--the young son of the house, Tomos, has been missing for almost a year, rumored to have been taken by the fairies. Like the Secret garden meets Frozen, with a likeable orphan girl as the heroine and a cranky clockwork crow as the hero.

You guys are such a force for good and I am a passionate supporter of Indie booksellers, so I'm so happy this worked out well (I'd love to know how many books were sold if you have it to hand - it felt like quite a lot!When her train finally arrives, the stranger who gave her the parcel has disappeared so she makes a last minute decision to take it with her.
