What is Hypnosis?

 

Hypnosis or trance gives you time to really relax and help you move forward and consolidate ideas and decisions. Unlike images portrayed in the media, there is nothing weird about trance - in fact we go in and out of trance quite naturally several times every day. Neuroscience shows that hypnosis helps us to form new neural pathways in our brains and so change unwanted patterns and develop new ones.

What To Expect - Initial Consultation

 

 We will have an initial consultation to meet each other and find out how you want hypnotherapy to help. I will explain how the brain works and what you can do to help yourself feel better. there will be no trance work in this session (with the exception of smoking cessation sessions). I will give you a free relaxation CD which forms an important part of the treatment.

 

Subsequent Sessions

 

Sessions last up to an hour and combine psychotherapy (talking therapy) to help you set achievable goals for change and some hypnosis. SFH tends to be brief - the number of sessions we will need depends on why you come to therapy.

 

 

 

About Me 

 

I trained as a Solution Focused Hypnotherapist after experiencing how this therapy helped me to make changes in my own life. I find its positive goal - oriented focus an inspiration and I hope you will too.

 

I have always worked with people and am passionate about helping people achieve the changes they wish for. After university I trained as a counsellor and have worked for over 30 years in a variety of health and social wellbeing roles, in the NHS and the not for profit sector.

I create a warm, friendly environment within my practice, combining my counselling experience with hypnotherapy.

 

I trained in the prestigious Clifton Practice in Bristol and am a member of The Stroud Hypnotherapy Practice, a centre of excellence within The Cotswold Health Centre.
